Upper Falls
As Catamount Creek drops out of the lush riparian meadow of the Garden of Eden and Pikes Peak above, Upper Falls forms the upper end of 500 feet of cascades and falls. The lower section of this dramatic terrain is Green Mountain Falls (the waterfall). Green Mountain Falls forms the lower falls which are visible near the bridge over the creek. The trail will take you up along the creek to see more falls and cascades. To reach the Catamount Creek falls, park below and walk up Hondo Avenue (the high road) or Belvidere Avenue (the creekside road) to the bridge over Catamount Creek. The area around the bridge is closed in the winter due to dangerous ice floes.
Closely examining color photos will help you learn to color more realistically - if realism is your goal. Close observation of colors and textures elevates our coloring of rocks, trees and water.
